As Dashing Films prepares for the premiere of its web series Chess on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, more members of the production crew are sharing their perspectives from behind the scenes. Bright Effiong, also known as Brisky, who worked as a second camera operator on the project, speaks on his role and contribution to the visual storytelling of the series.
Bright explains that his responsibility as a second camera operator was to support the overall visual output of the project by ensuring that each shot contributes effectively to the storytelling. Working under the supervision of the Director and the Director of Photography, he focused on capturing scenes in a way that translates the story clearly and visually to the audience.
The Vision Behind Chess
Speaking on the vision behind Chess, he highlights themes such as betrayal, jealousy, power struggles, and unintentional disloyalty. According to him, these elements work together to drive the drama within the series and shape the experiences of the characters.
Production Challenges
On the challenges faced during production, Bright points to time as a major factor. He notes that working within tight schedules required focus and efficiency in order to meet production demands while maintaining quality.
What Sets Chess Apart
When asked what sets Chess apart, he points to a combination of factors, including the strength of the story, the significance of the title, and the performances delivered by the cast. In his view, these elements come together to give the series a distinct identity.
He also emphasises that maintaining quality on set came down to attention to detail and strong teamwork among the crew. According to him, collaboration across departments played a key role in achieving the final result.
Looking ahead to the premiere, Bright says audiences should expect a story that is both dramatic and engaging. He suggests that the series reflects everyday experiences while also challenging certain mindsets, making it relatable as well as thought-provoking.
